Amputee Father Appeals for Help After Welcoming Newborn Baby

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County, Liberia — A father in Buchanan is appealing for public support after a tragic electrical accident at a construction site left him without both hands and both legs, dramatically changing his ability to work, care for himself and support his growing family.

Trokon Franklin, described by relatives as an energetic and hardworking family man, sustained life-altering injuries in January 2026 while working at a construction site. The electrical incident resulted in the amputation of both of his legs and both of his hands.

Before the accident, Franklin was able to work and provide for his household. However, his condition has since made it extremely difficult for him to earn an income, carry out daily activities independently, or meet the basic needs of his family.

The family’s situation has become more difficult following the recent birth of Franklin’s baby girl.

Franklin and his partner, Lovetee Franklin, are now facing the challenge of caring for their newborn while adjusting to the physical, emotional and financial effects of the accident.
